Houthi militants attack a water project, damage agricultural crops, and impose levies on vendors in Al-Makhadir.

Armed militants affiliated with the Houthi terrorist militia attacked a community water project and agricultural crops belonging to citizens in the Al-Makhadir district, north of Ibb Governorate. This coincided with the imposition of mandatory financial levies on street vendors in one of the district’s markets, according to local sources.

Local sources reported that Houthi elements vandalized equipment of a community water project and tampered with agricultural crops, looting part of them in the village of Bid’a. They indicated that these elements operate as an armed gang engaging in looting and extortion against citizens and passersby, amid complete disregard from the militia’s security apparatus despite residents’ appeals.

In the Habish Junction Market within the same district, Houthi gunmen forced street vendors near the Abu Haliqa station to pay financial levies by force. Affected individuals accused the Houthi official in the Habish Junction department of colluding with the levy collectors and sharing the proceeds with them.

These assaults occur amid ongoing complaints from residents about the spread of chaos and crimes of looting and extortion committed by Houthi elements and associated gangs across wide areas of the Al-Makhadir district and its surroundings in the Ibb countryside.
