The Foreign Minister discusses with the Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation the enhancement of cooperation and the latest developments in Yemen and the region.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Afrah Al-Zouba, discussed today, during a phone call with the Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, the aspects of cooperation between the Republic of Yemen and the organization, as well as ways to enhance and develop them.

The conversation addressed the latest developments in Yemen and the region, and they exchanged views on several issues and developments of mutual interest.

Minister Al-Zouba extended her congratulations to Ould Cheikh on his election as the Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, wishing him success in his duties. In turn, he congratulated her on her appointment as Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, expressing their aspiration to continue communication and coordination to strengthen cooperation between Yemen and the organization.

Minister Al-Zouba emphasized the importance of enhancing the role of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and joint Islamic action in facing the challenges confronting member states. She stressed that restoring state institutions and asserting sovereignty over all Yemeni territories is the guarantee against Yemen being exploited to threaten neighboring countries or harm regional peace and security.

For his part, the Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation reaffirmed the organization’s steadfast position in support of the Yemeni government, as well as Yemen’s sovereignty, unity, security, and stability.
