The meteorological department forecasts extremely hot weather along the coasts and deserts, while moderate conditions are expected in the highlands with potential thunderstorms.

The Meteorological Forecast and Early Warning Center at the General Authority of Civil Aviation and Meteorology predicted today, Thursday, that coastal areas and nearby regions will experience humid and hot to extremely hot weather, with conditions ranging from clear to partly cloudy, and a chance of scattered showers over parts of the eastern and southern coasts and the Socotra Archipelago, while winds are expected to be active around the archipelago and parts of the southern coasts.

The center also forecast that mountainous regions will have partly cloudy and moderate weather, with a possibility of heavy thunderstorms accompanied by hail in scattered areas of the highlands and the western and southwestern slopes, potentially extending to parts of the governorates of Lahij, Abyan, Shabwah, Hadhramaut, and Al Mahrah.

In the desert and plateau regions, the weather will be dry and range from clear to partly cloudy, hot to extremely hot during the day, and moderate at night and early morning, with a chance of thunderstorms in parts of the governorates of Al Mahrah, Hadhramaut, Shabwah, and Al Jawf, along with moderate to active winds causing dust and sandstorms.

Warnings and Alerts

The center urged citizens in desert and coastal areas to avoid direct exposure to sunlight during midday, be cautious of high humidity on the coasts, avoid flood channels and valleys in areas expected to receive rain, refrain from staying outdoors during thunderstorms, and be wary of strong winds.

The center also warned fishermen and ship captains in the eastern and southern coasts, Gulf of Aden, around the Socotra Archipelago, and the Arabian Sea of rough seas, high waves, and strong winds.
